Weston's Plan for Valley Forge Road
We all agree that Valley Forge Road needs improvement...
But Weston's Plan goes far beyond what's needed for this 300 year-old historic and scenic road on the the banks of the Saugatuck River.
Weston's Plan for Valley Forge Road
The Plan is destructive to the Saugatuck River ecosystem.
The Plan calls for widening travel lanes from 18 ft to 22 ft, plus 3-5 feet for guardrails & retaining walls on 1.25 miles on VFR. Weston's Plan includes:
- Removal of 100+ trees, roots and vegetation (see photo)
- Retaining walls of 2-5+ ft height along 1200 ft of road & in yards
- No post-project landscaping in Plan.

The Plan will turn VFR into a State highway.
- All existing post & cable fence to be replaced with steel guardrails.
- Altering driveway aprons for road height and to mitigate run-off from road ( no details have been provided to property owners).
- Wider travel lanes with guardrails will result in more speeding on Valley Forge Road -this is already a problem.
